ClickToFlash — Enhanced The Web Page Loading Speed on Safari

When iPad was announced, it did draw lots of attentions especially the lack of flash support. Once again, there are lots of disappointment and questions on why Apple doesn’t include flash on iPad. Yes, I have to admit I had the same feeling as well; you can read my first impression on Apple iPad HERE.
However, when I actually got my hands on the iPad, I have a different feeling on the lack of Adobe Flash support. To me, iPad is really not a flash player replacement, and just a couple days later, Steve Jobs, CEO of Apple Inc., personally published an article to explain why they don’t include Adobe Flash support on iPhone, iPod Touch nor iPad. In case you haven’t read it before, here is the link for your own interests:

Whether or not it’s true, I would like to share some of my experience. I have a Netbook and I would like to carry it with me for light-weight task like internet surfing on the go. Yet, I find it’s getting very hot and slow while I enter some of the flash-dependent sites. And today, I would like to introduce a plugin for you to enhance the web page loading speed for flash-enabled sites on Safari.
You can download the plug-in on the official website: http://clicktoflash.com/
The installation is quite straight forward and I would like to skip it here. Once it’s done and you open your Safari again, you should be able to see that no Flash is being downloaded and played; instead, you can see them replaced by the following icon:
If you do want to play the Flash embedded inside, just simply give it a click and it will play for you.
I found this plugin very useful because it pretty much blocks all the Flash-based advertisement and it speed up the web page loading while I can still enable the Flash if I want to.
If you are a Firefox user like me, there is also an equivalent plugin for Firefox, it’s called Flashblock, you can find it here https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/433 . It just does the same thing as ClickToFlash.
