Apple MobileMe Mail Update Coming Soon
By rockia on May 13, 2010 with Comments 4
MobileMe Mail finally has an update since its “.Mac –> MobileMe” rename.
Here is the official announcement on www.me.com:
Today we’re introducing the beta of an all new MobileMe Mail web application, and we’re asking you to try it and let us know what you think. You can sign up at me.com by just logging in to MobileMe Mail and clicking “Request an invitation.” You will receive an email notification when you have been added to the beta and can start using it.
Here are some of the new features:
Widescreen and compact views. When reading your mail at me.com, the new widescreen view lets you see more of each message with less scrolling. Choose compact view to hide your folders or classic view to see more of your message list.
Rules to keep your email organized everywhere. Mail rules help you reduce inbox clutter by automatically filing messages into folders you select ahead of time. Set them up at me.com, and your rules organize your incoming email on the web and everywhere else — on your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac, and PC.
Single-click archiving. Click the Archive button and the selected message is quickly filed into the Archive folder where it’s always available for future reference.
Formatting toolbar. You can create great-looking email messages using formatting buttons to bold or italicize text, change font color, insert images, and more. You can even create formatted web links to hide long URLs.
Improved performance. Mail at me.com loads your inbox and messages faster. And with interface refinements such as the ability to scroll through your entire inbox without having to manually click to load the next set of messages, you’ll be able to work more efficiently.
Increased security with SSL. With the MobileMe Mail beta, accessing your email on the web is more secure than ever. Your inbox is protected to prevent anyone from eavesdropping on your webmail. As always, you receive SSL protection when you use your MobileMe Mail account on your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac, and PC.
MobileMe Mail beta works best with Safari 4, Firefox 3.6, and Internet Explorer 8. To find out more about the beta, including system requirements, please read this FAQ.
We look forward to your feedback on the MobileMe Mail beta — you can tell us what you think by clicking the feedback link below your mail folders at me.com.
If you want to see more, you can check it out on Apple’s MobileMe News.
What I want to say is that Gmail has these “new” features for quite a long time; even though “Improved performance” is on the list, but will the update really give me less headache on me.com? Well, we will see. Right now Apple is sending out invitation to the Mail, if you want to receive invitation to take a preview of the beta version of the new Mail, just log in to your MobileMe account at http://www.me.com and click on the “request invitation” on the bottom left corner.
If they have some sort of feedback form on the “features” of MobileMe, I really want to say “Apple, would you please add in thread-style mail reading, just like what Gmail has?”
[Update]: My MobileMe Mail online is updated and it’s now in beta version. Layout looks slightly better, but it’s still loading very slowly. Apple, do you still remember the “Enhanced Performance” promise?

seems like just mobile me “mail” update, not mobile me other function update at all
Yes, and I don’t think other services are going to be update in near future.
I wanted other services to update, paying that price for every year, I think they should provide more ^^
I used the service for two years (you can tell from my @mac.com email, haha), but never paid a cent and I think I can still use it for free, so price is not an issue for me. I really want the Mail online to be more stable because sometimes I can’t even check my email online. Other than that, thread reading like Gmail is a most-wanted feature for me.
