Rockia.com has been moved to VPS

It’s sorry to say farewell to JustHost. I totally don’t want to do that as you provide me cheap “unlimited” hosting plan at such a great price.

I still vividly remember how excited when I discovered your SPECIAL COUPON; it’s like paying nothing but enjoying my first starting point of my blog. Thanks to you, Justhost, many of my readers were benefited with my experience and sharing.

However, I must say that, I can’t stand the on going traffic jam as well as server down from time to time. I know, and probably you know as well, that I am not the only one who experienced the same disappointment. A couple of other bloggers who I referred them to JustHost were definitely having unpleasing time as well.

So today, I am moving my site from Justhost to Linode VPS, a solid XEN platform VPS.

Other than Apache, I choose Nginx as my PHP server to host my WordPress. As for the Linux, I chose Debian 5. Struggling with the Linux command lines (good that I have been using Termina from Mac OS X for quite a while, so it isn’t too bad.), with the help of Linode community and the customer service of Linode, I successfully set up the server and get my site running.

OS:

  • Debian 5 Lenny

Software:

  • Nginx    (PHP server)
  • MySQL (Database)
  • PHP      (Language)
  • PHPMyAdmin (Database GUI)
  • Zend Optimizer
  • eAccelerator

So far I think the server is running pretty good, but I will test it more and maybe do some minor adjustment. I will write a tutorial post out on how to set up these software as well as the whole server in near future, so stay turn!

I used Just Host for my blog in the past 4 months and it’s been down for 3 times. So I moved to VPS as well. So far the speed is very good and I get a unique IP which I think is very useful.

They do have aggressive prices and excellent customer service, but I think they forgot that hosting quality always weight the most for web masters. I would rather pay a bit more to get reliable hosting plans.
