MSN 8 for Mac — The Long Wait is Over

[Update 2]: With official release of Office 2011, the bugs SHOULD be pretty much fixed, go and grab your copy now! (By saying “should”, I ma not too sure since I don’t use MSN any more.

[UPDATE]: Couple of the readers reported back to me that MSN 8.0 beta for Mac kept crashing on their Mac OS X (both 10.5 and 10.6), however, it works fine on my 10.6.3. Just to remember, this is only a beta version; it’s not a bad idea to wait till the official release. If you are unfortunate enough to have the crashing problem, please go Microsoft Mactopia site and download the previous version MSN 7.02 to replace it.

Yay~~, finally, the wait is over. Microsoft announced MSN 8 beta version for Mac, with support of Video and Audio calling.

Have you have ever wanted to do an audio call or a video call from your Mac with a contact on the Windows Live network? Starting today you can! Using your Live ID, Messenger for Mac users can now make AV calls to each other. Messenger for Mac 8 is also the first and only Mac-desktop client that can do calls with Windows Live Messenger 2009.

You can download this beta version from Microsoft’s Mactopia site. This is still the beta version; the official version will be released along the launch of Office 2011 for Mac.

After trying it a little bit, I found one annoying bug:

Display picture won’t show up:

And I am not even using my custom display picture, it’s the MSN built-in ones. Hope Microsoft could fix that as soon as possible.
