Enable your QuickLook to view GIF files

When you open your .GIF images in QuickLook, your image is static and remains in the first frame. If you don’t understand what I am talking about, take a look at the following image:

Source: Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Newtons_cradle_animation_book_2.gif)

As long as you have a .GIF-supported browser, that is almost ALL browsers, you will see the picture is actually an animation of a cradle motion. Now you can download this photo by clicking here >>>Download image in .zip file<<<

Once you have the file, unzip it, and highlight it then hit “Spacebar”, you will view the photo in Quicklook but you don’t see the cradle in the picture moving any more. I have already explained the reason in my first sentence of my post, now you just need to give your Quicklook a patch and it will do the job for you:

  1. Download the quicklook plugin, which is called “Animated GIF Quicklook Plugin Installer”, you can download it from this site, or from my site here >>>Click to download Quicklook Plugin<<<;
  2. Install the package;
  3. View the .GIF file again in Quicklook.

Hopefully you find this plugin useful; if you do, please forward this post to your friends.
