Vector Magic — create vector graphic with ease on Mac or PC

If someone give you an image in small size .jpg file format, let’s say a logo, and ask you to make a poster. It’s not going to look good if you just simply enlarge the .jpg file to the size you need. If you are experienced in Adobe Illustrator or Corel CorelDRAW, you probably how to make path from the graphic and then make use of it. The good thing about vector files is that no matter how big you enlarge them into, the sharp is not going to change and the resolution is still good for any size because they are just combination of a bunch of computer formulas. Two days ago, I need to create a vector file for a picture. The picture was hand-drew then scan into computer. I have no problem to clean the dirt left during the drawing process, but I stopped when I need to create vector graphic from it. This picture has various small details; if I use Pen tool in Photoshop to make a path, it is going to take me at least 2 hours and the effect is not good at all. I did try Illustrator, but I was not too satisfied with it.

I did some research online and found a software call “Vector Magic”, I download the trial version and it surprisingly works well for me. Now, let me share this software to you.

In this post, I will use Fido’s logo for example to make a vector graphic file.

1. First, I installed the Vector Magic trial, it’s pretty straight forward. Then I grab the fido logo off from Fido.ca .

2. Launch Vector Magic, then simply drag your image to the main window.  To make it easier, I used the Automatic button, and it will do all the work for me.VectorMagicConvert Just keep in mind, it’s an option that you can choose “Basic” and “Advanced” setting if you want a better graphic for your need. Since this is a trial version, I can’t save the image out, but if you buy a license from Vector Magic, or you can pay $7.95 per month for the online version.
