A better way to grab icons without third-party software on Mac

In my previous post, I introduced a handy software called iconGrabber; it’s very easy to use for getting icon images. However, sometimes we might want to grab the icons but don’t really have time to download and install the software and today I will show you how to do that without using any third party software. Follow my steps, you can do that on a out-of-box Mac.
1. Select the icon that you would like to get the image from, and then hit “Command” + “C” .
2. Open the application called “Preview”, you can do that by type in “Preview” in your Spotlight at your top right corner, or you can open it in your Application folder. With “Preview” opened, you can now hit “Command” + “N”, you will see screen like this one:
3. Now you can choose from “File”–> “Save As” to export the image to the file format you need.
It supports the following formats:
- GIF
- JPEG
- JPEG-2000
- Microsoft BMP
- OpenEXR
- Photoshop
- PICT
- PNG
- SGI
- TGA
- TIFF
